Where is Your Mission Field

March 17, 2020 By Rick Turner

Thought of the Week – This week there has been a particular verse on my mind.  That verse is Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?”  Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!””  If you are like me you have heard this verse many times…probably during missionary services.  While reading it this week it took on a different meaning for me…yes…I do believe that it has a direct correlation with the call to the mission field.  But I think it is much more than that.

My question to you and me this week is: where is the “mission field?”

The mission field is where there is a need for Jesus and that is everywhere!  There are people hurting and lost souls everywhere we look.  It is not just in a foreign country…it is at work, it is at school, your neighbor next door, and even family members.  Everywhere we look there are people that need to hear the good news of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

As I was discussing this with a good friend of mine this week he mentioned that at their church they have a saying that is: “kill me, fill me, send me”, oh what truth there is in that simple statement.

So this verse has taken on a different meaning for me…when I leave my house I am entering the “mission field.”  I hope and pray that the Lord will help me fulfill this calling.

Will you join me this week and every week in answering Him…”Here am I.  Send me!”

God Bless,
Rick
